Waterdeep and Beyond

Adventure 20 Something: Preparation for the coming battkle

The Rag Tags split up in the urgency to find allies for the anticipated defense against the army of Yvonnel Drexa, demon princess of the abyssal plane of Maloj.

Rolen disappeared summoned by Myrki leaving the rest to decide what to do.  As the party were discussing what to do Azaer also disappeared summoned to help Rolen.

This left Binkie and the rest of the crew to work with Dandalus and Ethanalor to find allies.  Their first stop was the home of Helm on the sword coast being Helm's Hold.  They returned with a bump to find Watchknight Silverhand awaiting them.  She let on she had to flee the persecution going on in Waterdeep and had come to the hold to try and raise support to intervene.

The party discussed the coming battle with her and she wasnt sure she could help but would raise it with the council.  She needed their help i nretur nto get any support to wherever it was they were basing.  They left behind the teleportation scroll for Silverhand to deploy.

Upon returning to the Grandfather oak they found the place busier.  Dandalus and Aluria were nowhere to be seen.  The elves were doing their best to carve bows and arrows for use and finding old stashes of elven weaponry in the forests.

The party were then zapped by Ethanalor to the Forlorn hills.  Here they me twith Haela Brightaxe who after some convincing by Binkie promised to send as many of her battle clerics as she could spare.  Initially she was not happy at the prospect but saw that this threat might escape the forests.

The group returned to the forest to find Dandalus had returned and had begun linking runes together on the ground though he would give no clear answers.   The party also saw that they had been joined by the wild elves and a band of centaurs.  They had camped themselves as far as possible from the rest.  It was beginning to look like it might be harder to get them to cooperate rather than find allies.

At this point a ripple in the air opened and silverhand after a week of gathering support had manage to garner the order of the Watchers of the Fallen.  Alexander was ordained Vigilant of this order due to his battlefield experiences.

She brought as many as 50 clerics and paladins with her.  Silverhand herself had been promoted to the council now ordained Everwatcher Silverhand

As this portal was forming another broke open and out stepped hordes of female battle clerics of clangeddin dressed for battle with Haela at their head.  She freaked when she saw Dandalus and stayed clear of him muttering something about him leveling something or another in the past….

An army was coming together but they were still very low on numbers if to fight that horde of demons, slaves and drow not to mention Drexa.

Meanwhile having been summoned to Myrki's chamber Rolen and Azaer will instructed to proceed into the underdark to garner support from a deurgar king known as Darkbane.  She stated this was their only hope for mass numbers of hardened warriors.  They would have ti play the drow hatred card and play it as tatcical that if the drow gained a foot hold above their city would be next.   Second to this Azaer had his own calling from his master in the promise to collect souls he would deliver resources.

Myrki informed them that they should pick deugar off from mining camps throughout the underdark.  She knew the pact Azaer had made.  She also informed them not to take too many as it would become obvious.   King Darkbane was no fool.  She indicated the pendant rolen wore would guide him to Darkstone and back.  She granted them band sof starsight which would turn the underdark blackness into starlit objects.  Better than nothing Rolen assumed.

The two of them trawled the underdark for days picking off deurgar to feed to Azaer's blade.  Rolen knew not why they needed this but went along.   After several days they reached the city.  With Azaers help they tried to infiltrate finding the target perched right in the middle of the city on a dark throne.  They convinced him eventually to lend his support and he promised near 1000 battle hardened infantry and some clerics to support them.  But he was adamant they would take no orders from elves or likewise.  At the mention of Dandalus the king bcame more agreeable muttering he didnt want his city levelled liked the other one 500 years ago…..

Rolen and Azaer headed back trying to communicate with Myrki via the pendant but getting no answers.  Rolen worried pressed ahead.  They laid the teleportation circle and retuned to Myrki's chamber.  Upon arriving all they found was an avatar of Myrki that acted like her but did not talk.  Very puzzled and concerned they headed back to the grandfather oak.

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.
